A Degree Awarded by Two Universities

This MSc is awarded jointly by the University of Ioannina and Universität Münster — two institutions teaching side by side, sharing resources, and standing behind a single, internationally recognized degree.

1) Faculty & Academic Expertise

Collaborative Teaching

Courses and seminars are taught jointly by faculty members from both the University of Ioannina and Universität Münster, so you learn directly from both academic communities rather than one institution alone.

International Guest Webinars

Online lectures by distinguished scholars in Byzantine Studies, AI, and Digital Humanities from institutions around the world, brought directly into the programme’s teaching.

2) Mobility & In-Person Research Visits

The MSc is 100% distance learning — but if you want time on campus, two routes are open to you, entirely optional.

In-Situ Research Meetings

Optional in-person research meetings and visits are organized in Arta, Greece — a city rich in Byzantine heritage — and in Münster, Germany, for field study and research monitoring.

Erasmus+ Support

Full access to Erasmus+ mobility for study or traineeships at partner European universities, with credit recognition and a monthly living grant.

Up to 30 ECTS credits recognised from an Erasmus+ mobility period, which count towards your degree.
Monthly living allowance of €550–700 during your Erasmus+ studies or internship.
